While Leap On Rocks isn’t the goriest of bike games online, there’s certainly a sense of dread to it. This feeling is entirely thanks to the brilliant touch of the jagged, tooth like rocks along each level’s floor. What really makes the game special, though, isn’t the control scheme, but rather the visuals and the level design.
Trying to keep your balance and keep your character from smashing his head on the level floor is more tense than ever due to the simple fact that you’re riding your bike on what looks like a chainsaw mixed with the jaws of a crocodile. The game mercifully cuts away when your character does a faceplant, but the implied outcome is enough to make you cringe.
Leap on Rocks manages to keep the player interested through this unique touch and through twisted, turning and sometimes outright bizarre level design decisions. Each level is loaded with pits, barely surmountable hills and dangerously steep inclines.
The game maintains a slower pace and you will at times feel as if you’re crawling through each level. This is part of the fun. If you’ve ever seen the movie “The Wages of Fear” then you have a sense of the kind of tension that this game offers. Each turn of the pedal could be your last and that’s what makes it a lot of fun.
